Rolando González Patricio, president of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO), is participating in the 12th Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, taking place in Geneva from March 3 to 4, 2025. More than 40 countries have sent their delegations to this event, which highlights the importance of joining efforts to address the challenges that jeopardize peaceful coexistence globally.
In this context, González Patricio had a significant meeting with Ahmed Bin Mohamed Aljarwan, president and founder of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace. During the meeting, both leaders exchanged ideas and strategies on future actions aimed at promoting tolerance, consolidating peace, and strengthening democracy in their respective regions.
The PARLATINO delegation, led by González Patricio and also composed of Vice President Carlos Núñez and Congresswoman María del Carmen Alba Prieto, Secretary of Interinstitutional Relations, has been present at the sessions. The choice of Geneva as the venue for this important event adds symbolism, as the city is known as the "capital of peace" and hosts key international organizations such as the UN and the Red Cross.
One of the highlights of the meeting is the promotion of the Universal Charter of Peace for People and the Planet, a document that was adopted during the previous session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace in November 2024, held in Cambodia. The continuity of these discussions and collaboration among countries from different regions reinforces the global commitment to peace, tolerance, respect for human rights, and environmental protection.
