Third Ukraine Round of Talks to be Held Privately in Geneva

Switzerland announced that the third round of talks between Russia, the US, and Ukraine, aimed at finding a peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian conflict and scheduled to begin on February 17 in Geneva, will be held behind closed doors. «No access for media representatives will be permitted to the trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States,» the Swiss Foreign Ministry said in a statement cited by Xinhua. According to the Kremlin, the new round will cover a broader range of issues than the deals in Abu Dhabi, including territorial issues, reported the official spokesman Dmitry Peskov, according to the RT news site. «This time, we intend to discuss a wider range of issues, including, in fact, the main ones concerning both territories and everything else.» He also announced that Kyiv plans to raise the issue of an energy ceasefire, an idea that Moscow has repeatedly rejected in the past. Representatives of the three countries have held three rounds of talks in Abu Dhabi: the first on January 23-24, and the second on February 4-5. After the meeting, the US special envoy, Steve Witkoff, indicated that Russia and Ukraine had agreed on an exchange of 314 prisoners of war.
