Martin Haugg, the financial director of a Swiss chocolate manufacturing company, stated that rising raw material prices have become a serious problem for the entire confectionery industry. According to him, increasing costs pose serious financial challenges for the company, as chocolate producers face rising production expenses in an already complex economic environment.
"We have been experiencing one of the highest levels of cost increases for several years, and this creates serious pressure on our business," he noted. "We have to take measures to reduce expenses to soften the impact of this increase in prices on our profitability. Otherwise, we will be forced to pass this burden onto consumers."
Haugg also added that the situation with prices has been affected by weather conditions in some major producing regions as it has led to a reduction in harvests and thus to a shortage of raw materials.
