Swiss Inflation Reaches One-Year High

Inflation in Switzerland rose at the fastest pace in a year last March amid an energy crisis caused by the war in Iran, leading to an increase in heating fuel costs. Bloomberg News agency reported that consumer prices rose by 0.3% compared to the previous year and by 0.1% over the previous three months. The Swiss Statistical Bureau reported yesterday that the increase in heating fuel costs was the main contributor to the inflation rate reaching that level. The rise in inflation is likely to put an end to any speculation about the Swiss National Bank returning to negative interest rates soon.
