Swiss Voters Back Higher Taxes on the Rich

Swiss voters support imposing higher taxes on the rich to fund the army and pay pensions, which could be a second attack on large fortunes in less than a year, according to Bloomberg News. A poll published by the Tamedia/20 Minuten group showed that more than two-thirds of participants support the idea of a 0.33% federal wealth tax on assets exceeding five million Swiss francs (about six million dollars). While there are no official plans to impose such taxes yet, this result is expected to spark debate among parliament members who are looking for ways to increase revenues.
