Pierre Krahenbuhl, the Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross, stated on Thursday that the absence of political leadership exacerbates humanitarian crises. He emphasized that countries must unite efforts to address problems related to global challenges.
In Krahenbuhl's view, the lack of leadership hampers responses to extraordinary situations such as wars, famines, and epidemics. He underscored the importance of solidarity and international cooperation in tackling rising challenges facing the world.
"Without strong political leadership, we risk humanitarian crises becoming permanent," he noted.
Krahenbuhl also underscored the importance of gathering resources and humanitarian aid for countries experiencing crises. He called for international cooperation for more effective actions to prevent poverty and protect the most vulnerable groups of the population.
