The Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the Italian ambassador to Switzerland will return to his post. This comes after more than two months since he was recalled. The ambassador was recalled at the end of last month after Swiss authorities refused to extradite former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Swiss authorities explained their decision by stating that Berlusconi's conviction in Italy was for acts that are not criminal offenses in Switzerland.
